1. Begin with the cross. Get the two pieces of wood. Grasp the longer piece horizontally and put the shorter piece of wood near your body. That way, a T-shaped cross has been formed. Hammer a nail into the connection to hold the two wooden pieces. Then put one nail each on the two ends of the shorter piece of wood, leaving the nail sticking out approximately 1/8 inch. Make sure that the nails are in the wood securely as they are crucial for making sure that your wood does not slip and add to the strength of the bow.

2. Connect the elastic band to the two nails on either side of the small board. You need to make sure your band or elastic is stretched taunt because if you fail to do this, you will not get the object you wish to launch to fly properly. You also need to make sure that the band is straight so that your projectile will go where you want it to go.

3. Making the trigger of the crossbow is probably the most challenging thing to do. To begin with, a rectangle of 1 inch by 1 should be cut at a suitable point, where you want to place the trigger. The trigger is going to look something like that on a gun. The top will hold the expanded elastic band facing in front of you while the rear ought to be held by a hook connected to the end of the rectangular cut that is closer to your body. This can also be made by making a button trigger which will release the band when you press it.

4. The bow is now ready to fire. But what are you going to use as your projectile? So we must now learn how to create crossbow arrows. These can be made with a variety of items or materials. It is recommended that you use aluminum because it is strong enough, yet light enough, to fly.

5. Feathers can be considered for improved arrow flying. Later on, you can file down the tips to make more of an arrow shape so that you can begin to practice hitting targets.
